3. a leaf or branch of such a tree, especially as formerly borne to signify victory or as used on festive occasions.

Psalms
noun
1. a book of the Bible, composed of 150 songs, hymns, and prayers."

"Palmss" came to me after three years of inability to create. My last creative project was a photo exhibit called black&grey, that I put together as a small goodbye to the college town where I had spent the last four years. Even though the project was generally received well, creative insecurities kept me from continuing the work, or even showcasing the collection online except in my portfolio (many years later).
Over the last three years I've spent in California, I've had endless conversations with other creative people and realize that many of our thoughts, feelings, and insecurities are not unique to our own experience; instead, these sentiments are shared among many creatives, even if it doesn't seem like it from an outside perspective. Wanting to face my own creative demons and hoping to share insight from a handful of individuals, I decided to bring "Palmss" to life.

The name "Palmss" is derived from three meanings:
1. The palms of our hands, from which creation occurs.
2. The palm fond, which is a symbol of victory or accomplishment. More generally, the theme of foliage and plant life symbolizes creative growth and victory as a result of that growth.
3. A sensational spelling of 'psalms,' an anthology of songs from the bible.
Issue No. 1 consists of interviews from ten Los Angles-based creatives, as well as submissions by outside contributors. The profiled creatives include:
- a digital/interactive media creator
- a photographer/writer
- a videographer/photographer
- a model/mixed media artist
- a curator
- a visual artist/writer
- a dj
- a television producer
- a style content creator
- an illustrator/designer/tattooer
Topics include mental and physical health, beauty, gender, sexuality, home, money and worth, race, identity, and more.
Different from traditional interviews, it is my hope that these stories will help each of us paint our own picture of what creation feels like, how creation happens, and why we create.

4. Release Party (14%) - decorations, entertainment, refreshments
Risques et défis
Time is both my biggest risk and biggest challenge for this project. I'm hoping to release the completed first issue at the end of October 2016. Because of the sudden increase in content, this could get pushed back a few weeks; however, because I'm a perfectionist, in lieu of total catastrophe, that is very unlikely.
