A short film about a Kiwi artist living in L.A. who must learn to trust in her own abilities and be bold enough to chase her dreams.
À propos du projet
WHAT'S LEAP? WHO'S GONNA LEAP? WHERE ARE WE LEAPING!?
Leap is the story of Sky, a young woman from New Zealand who travelled to Los Angeles to pursue her art in photography, but quickly realized that surviving in a big city isn't as glamorous as the movies made it seem.
When Blake (a writer who is coming to terms with the loss of his estranged father) meets Sky in an unexpected situation, both are forced to experience and see things they have never known before and in turn find a new direction for their lives through the power of human connection.

A little more about how Leap was born..
I wrote the story of Leap a year ago on a flight back to L.A. after I had taken a trip to Nebraska to visit friends. I'll never forget a dear lady who I had never met before, coming up to me and saying "keep going". I had been telling people about my life in L.A, my many jobs and what I had come to America wanting to do. She told me, the difference between people who succeed and people who don't, is that they keep going until they make it happen. As I boarded my flight I kept thinking about what she had said. A voice said, you have to make it. Make the film.
I began writing this story based on some true events in my own life, it is the most vulnerable thing I've ever created and hope to share with everyone who would like to see it.
I think that although this film is about an artist, many people all over the world know what it feels like to have a dream and feel stuck in a job they are working in because they have to make enough to get by. That is what this film is about. It's about having the courage to trust in what it is that you really feel passion for and find a way to move towards that.
How far has this film come so far?
On my own tiny budget and with the help of a team of talented and generous friends donating time and equipment we have managed to finish shooting Leap and have completed a rough edit.

What's the next step?
To complete this film and do it the justice it deserves we now need to finish the post production.
What will the money be spent on?
Sound Edit/Sound Mix - We shot this film entirely by ourselves so we now need to bring in the pros to mix the sound to help this film stand up amongst the big guys!
Color Grade - To compliment the composition and help the look of the film reach it's full potential we need to have this colored professionally.
Film Festival Submissions - I will submit this film to many festivals around the world, so the remaining money will go to submission fees... (and to your rewards! )

WAHOO, WHAT ARE THE REWARDS?

Risques et défis
The risk of producing a film on a very low budget is that it may not reach it's full potential in terms of look, sound and professional quality, therefore making it harder to be accepted into festivals or to compete in them.
I would love to have the chance to fund the post production properly to give this film it's best chance to go as far as it can and inspire and influence those who get to see it!
